Technology and Me

In my own understanding, being a Tech-savvy is possessing the right knowledge and skills to understand and use our modern technology better than other normal people and utilize it to solve daily problems and to enhance productivity. Tech-savvy individuals know a lot about new technologies. In today's age, it is given that our generation is digitally native. However, there are still some who are not really what we call a Tech-savvy person, and I am one of them. Some factors on why I am not Tech-savvy person is because of my personal preference, lack of practice or experience, and privacy-related worries.

I am part of the Generation Z or Gen Z individuals, and yes, I use certain gadgets every day to help me with my homeworks and daily household tasks. However, I still prefer doing things using traditional methods just like reading physical books rather than reading through the screen. It is certain that technology provides us with convenience and entertainment, but still, I find enjoyment and satisfaction better doing most of my activities offscreen.

I lack experience in deeply exploring modern technology. I use my smartphone every day, but I did not really try to internalize how to utilize some of its tools and features. I tend to only use apps and features that are familiar to me. This hinders me from deeply understanding the complex features that my smartphone has. Additionally, I never had my own laptop until recently. Therefore, the lack of practice.

In terms of privacy, I do not completely trust technology especially the internet. There is always a possibility that our gadgets or online accounts can be hacked. I always hear numerous media reports about privacy issues among the internet that causes great loss to the victims. I also can not control how the system uses the data I disclose. This causes me to worry and feel skeptical about technology.

In conclusion, despite being born in an era where technology is widely used, there are still people, like me, who are not quite educated about technology. Some reasons why I think I am not a tech-savvy is because of my personal preference, lack of practice, and privacy risks. Despite my lack of digital proficiency, I appreciate the benefits that our modern technology provides, and I am open to learning new skills and knowledge related to it.
